Daniel Milstein (born November 8, 1975), is American entrepreneur and loan officer of Ukrainian origins, residing in Northville, Michigan, United States. He is the CEO[1] of Gold Star Financial, which in 2009 was listed as one of Inc. magazine's 500 Fastest Growing Companies.[2]

Early life

Daniel Milstein was born in Kiev, Ukraine,[3] which was then part of the USSR and is now Ukraine. In 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred near his home, resulting in the deaths of his grandparents. Milstein and his family relocated to the United States as political refugees in 1991.[4]

Milstein received his education with honors in business management and finance and graduated with a BBA from Cleary University, Ann Arbor. In 2012, he also earned an honorary doctorate degree in business science from Cleary University.[4]

Career

Milstein founded Gold Star Financial in 2000 and continues as CEO of the business. In 2014, he was included on the "Hot 100" list by Mortgage Professional America (MPA).[5][6]

The Scotsman Guide recognized Milstein as the "#1" Loan Officer in the U.S. for two consecutive years, 2009 and 2010.[5][7]

He was included on the National Mortgage Professional Magazine's 2009 "40 under 40" list, which identifies the 40 most influential mortgage professionals under age 40,[8] and that same year, Milstein was listed in Crain's "Forty under Forty."[1] He also was named on the 2010 dbusiness list of "30 in their Thirties," business leaders recognized in Michigan and around the world.[9]

In 2011, Milstein's book The ABC of Sales: Lessons from a Superstar was published and became the number 1 sales book on Amazon.[10]

Milstein was named a member of the National Academy of Best-Selling authors in 2012.[11]

Milstein published a second book in 2013—17 Cents and a Dream: My Incredible Journey from the USSR to Living the American Dream.[12] In its first week, the book ranked number one on the Amazon best-seller list.[13] In 2014, Milstein released his third book, Street Smart Selling: How to Be a Sales Superstar.[14]

Gold Star Mortgage Financial Group

Gold Star Mortgage Financial Group is a full-service mortgage lender and broker headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The company is operating nationally in over 20 states.[4] Annually, Gold Star Mortgage loan closing volume exceeds $1 billion in residential mortgage loans.[2]

In 2013, Mortgage Technology placed Gold Star Mortgage Financial Group on their list of "Top Tech-Savvy Lenders and Servicers".[15] That same year, the company also was inducted into the Ellie Mae Hall of Fame for "Outstanding Loan Origination Process."[16]

Mortgage Executive Magazine placed Gold Star Mortgage on their 2014 list of "50 Best Companies to Work For."[17] Based on employee recommendations, the Detroit Free Press named Gold Star Mortgage one of the "Top Workplaces" for a number of years, starting in 2009 and most recently in 2014.[18][19][20]
