Hussein Fayek Sabbour (born 1936) is an Egyptian civil engineer and architect. After graduation from Cairo University with BSc. Of Civil Engineering in 1957, he got diplomas in Road Planning in 1958 and in Fundamental Development in 1962.
Career
Hussein Sabbour Consulting Office
After graduation, Sabbour has made his way into civil engineering in the Egyptian community with clear steps and recognizable projects that made his name associated with any successful project in Egypt. Sabbour is the head of "Engineer Hussein Sabbour Consulting Office", which is one of the first engineering consultancies firms in Egypt. Throughout their long history in this field, Sabbour’s establishment have designed and supervised the construction of the contract and authorized projects with perfection using the latest theories and methods of design and coping with the technological development in this field. Sabbour Consultancy has introduced a large number of outstanding projects, such as Arkadia Commercial and Residential Complex, Underground Regional line and phase 2, Electrical Power Station, Katamya Hills, Sama Al Qahira and Dyar.
After the raise of touristic sites development, Sabbour has been one of the pioneers in this field. Through being the Chairman of several companies whose activities are related to the engineering field such as: Oriental Resorts for Touristic Development, Al Ahly Urban Investment Company, Sinai Management and Development Company, Egyptian Construction & Services Company. (ECSCO), Misr America for Development, Relantex for Touristic Villages, and Egyptian Company for Entertainment & Touristic Attractions (ECETA), he was able to introduce remarkable projects that enhanced the Egyptian economy.
Al Ahly for Real Estate Development
In 1994, Sabbour has founded Al Ahly for Real Estate Development Company (a leader of the real estate field in Egypt) where the National Bank of Egypt holds 40% of its capital. Through Al Ahly for Real Estate Development Company, Sabbour was able to found a large number of projects across Egypt, from Cairo to North Coast and Red Sea, such as Katamya Residence, Amwaj and Sunterra.
Sabbour is a board member of the Page General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI),[1] the Chairman of the Egyptian Businessmen Association,[2] the Vice Chairman of the Federation of Arab Businessmen,[3] a board member of the Egyptian British Chamber of Commerce,[4] a board member of the Egyptian Construction Export Council,[5] a General Assembly member at the National Company for Construction & Development[6] and a board member of the Center for advancement of Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Engineering – Cairo University. Moreover, he was the Chairman of the Alumni of the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University and is now a member of the board.[7] Also, he was the Chairman of Sabbour Associates which is considered one of the largest Consulting firms operating in Egypt, Africa and the Arab World. Sabbour Associates expanded its activities in Europe.
Mr. Sabbour participated in founding the Federation of Consultants from Islamic Countries[8] whose headquarters is at Istanbul and was its vice Chairman for the first four years after its foundation, as well in founding the African Business Round Table and was the Vice Chairman for four years. He also, participated in founding the first company established in Egypt to handle the BOT projects and was its chairman for several years. He was the former Chairman of the Egypt-US Business Council.
Moreover, he was the Chairman of Mohandes Bank for a period of more than five years, the Chairman of Real Estate Egyptian Consortium for a period of six years and he was a board member of the Arab Contractors Co.
For the sports and activities Mr. Sabbour was the Chairman of the Table Tennis Association for eight years and the Chairman of the Egyptian Shooting Club since 1992 till present.
