"Avalon" is a 1982 song by British art rock band Roxy Music. It was released as the second single from their album Avalon. The single, with its B-side, "Always Unknowing", charted at No. 13 in the UK.[1]
The song's distinctive backing vocals were performed by the Haitian singer Yanick Etienne.[2]
Recording
Bryan Ferry discovered the vocalist, Yanick Etienne in the recording studio where he was working on the album. He heard her in the adjacent studio and asked her to join him on his recording of Avalon.[3][4]
Promotional video
The music video for the single "Avalon" was directed by Howard Guard in Mentmore Towers country house and it features the English actress Sophie Ward, daughter of actor Simon Ward.
In popular culture
The song is featured on the soundtrack for the 2006 videogame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and also played in 2013 movie Felony(film).
