George Cleve

George Wolgang Cleve is an American conductor who was born in Vienna.[1] He studied at the High School of Music and Art and the Mannes College of Music. He has conducted for many famous orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Montreal Symphony. He was appointed music director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for the 1969-70 season [2], and then served as the music director of the San Jose Symphony from 1972 to 1992. Cleve has also conducted several operas, some of which include Don Carlos, Carmen, and Cosi fan tutte. Cleve is the founder, in 1974, and director of the Midsummer Mozart Festival in the San Francisco Bay Area.[3]
