john's Sentences- The influence media has had on fashion goes as far back as the 18th century. Fashion magazines such as the French La Mode Illustrée, the British Lady’s Realm, and the American Godey's Lady Book were some of the early magazines to be exclusively fashion based.[1] Featuring fashion illustrations, articles, and advertisements, these having a huge hand in increasing the popularity of fashion. With the development of effective and inexpensive methods in producing photographs for print media, fashion magazines became the forefront marketing source for the fashion industry. First with Harper's Bazar in 1867, and next with Voguein 1892, these magazines were created to promote fashion sketches and patterns inspired from french couture.[2] Fashion magazines later began to include photographs and fashion illustrations by the most famous of visual artists forever cementing the idea of fashion as an art form. Magazines such as Cosmopolitan which printed its first issue in 1886 began as a fictional magazine for the family but later on transitioned into a full fashion magazine after the rise in popularity for the industry.[3]
After the magazine came the creation of the newsreel, and the rise of the television - which would both be used to show fashion shows to people around the world but also give viewers a look of what the celebrities of the time were wearing.[4] Today, shows covering red carpet events, fashion designer contests, or fashion based reality TV are just some of the many outlets we have to the fashion industry. Project Runway, a television show about fashion designers competing for a cash prize and contract has become one of the most watched shows on reality television now with 17 seasons aired and an 18th being developed for 2015. [5] As the visual age continued to progress with the creation of the internet, fashion has become more accessible than it has ever before. Magazine websites, style blogs, and fashion news related sites were now available to be seen immediately. Websites such as WWD,GQ, and style.com are just some of the websites visited daily for the latest fashion news and inspiration.[6]
The content on this sandbox is both clear and neutral and uses a reference, but is short. I understand that only one person has done work on the sandbox so I see why there isn't much content to be reviewed. There are at least 5 sources included and the content appears to be grammatically correct. In the future, I recommend encouraging other group members to contribute to the sandbox and to add more information from the selected sources provided. Since this sandbox is lacking many of the assignments that were due over the last couple of weeks, having only one person's contributions, as well as having little information written up, the grade is 2/5.Deirdre.romer (talk) 16:35, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Group D's sandbox is lacking some content. The sources listed are neutral and clear. One person contributed to adding additional information about their topic, but the content is short. The content seems be grammatically correct with no spelling mistakes. The information given was clear about their topic. This sandbox could improve if other group members contributed. Overall, the grade is 2/5. Dollywei (talk) 03:48, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Noting that there is 5 sources on the sandbox edit page just not on the sand box I recommend converting them into ASA citations then they will show back up in the final sandbox. Seems like only one person is contributing to which is unfortunate, but all too common. Sources are neutral and clear. 3/5. KMacClellan (talk) 04:23, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
