Rona Yefman (b. 1972 in Israel) is an Israeli photografer living and working in New York.

Life and Career

Rona Yefman received an MFA from Columbia University in 2009 and a BFA from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in 1999. Her recent solo shows have been at Sommer Gallery (Tel Aviv), Derek Eller Gallery (New York), The Sculpture Center (Long Island City, NY) and Participant, Inc. (New York). Fascinated from the gap between what people are and what they want to be, Rona as an artist, looks for extreme situations and people that embody possibilities of freedom making of this gap an opportunity of redemption for themselves[1] In her works she explores identity through photographing, videotaping, collecting text and collaborating with individuals that have formed a radical persona.[2]Her relationship with each person shifts according to the specific historical context, political conflicts and cultural issues that she addresses through the exposition of the personal. Establishing close relationships with her subjects, she begins with them to research in a different ways to awaken the body and to elicit the self through the construction of different characters.[3]
