Solo Parent is the accurate title for a parent who is separated from the other parent. The "single" title is often misused as flattery to make an older person appear like they are young and appealing, and to make broken families look more appealing. After divorce, a person doesn't become "single" or "Miss" as biased judges like to flatter older "divorced women" as a Single parent.
