River Trail Middle School (RTMS) is a 7-time Blue Ribbon Award-winning public middle school located in Johns Creek, Georgia. The Georgia Department of Education identified River Trail as a Blue Ribbon winner during the 2002-2003 and 2007-2008 school years.[2] In the Single Statewide Accountability System awards, River Trail received a Gold Status in the Highest Performance Category. This award recognizes and celebrates the hard work of students, faculty and support staff during the CRCT testing in which 98% or more kids meet and exceed standards. The school teaches children from grades 6 to 8.
The school is a part of the Fulton County School System. The current principal of River Trail is Dawn Melin. Its school colors are black and gold.
River Trail is known for its music programs. Its Chamber Orchestra was invited to the Governor's mansion for the 2008-2009 school year. River Trail's Symphonic Band was invited to GMEA during year 2009-2010. In April 2012, the Chamber Orchestra performed at Carnegie Hall.
