I love and hate Wikipedia. It could be great and there is much that is good but the more important it is the more it is a race to the bottom. It deserves the resounding ridicule that it continually gets but too much of this is blanket and unhelpful. And then there are things that are plain bonkers silly - like sound that is so pure that it can't be heard by anyone. What is an encyclopaedia doing without any pronunciation guide? Wikipedia is unresponsive where it matters most. For example I was astonished to read that medical articles should be referenced with systematic reviews and the like but personal opinion in newspapers and magazines are used almost exclusively.
