Steven Goldstein is a Latin American race car driver.
Auto racing career
Goldstein's career began in 2002 when he was invited to attend a BMW formation racing school in Germany and the instructors recommended he should make a living through racing.
In 2004 he was the Champion of the Formula 2000 Championship in the United States with 8 race wins and 11 podiums.[1]
Winning such championship got him an contract to sign with the Official Audi Sport Italia Team to race in Europe. He moved to Barcelona, where he also worked as an instructor for RACC Renault in the Barcelona Race Circuit 'Circuit de Catalunya'.
He made his debut in the Euro Superstars Championship in 2006. He was accredited with the award “Rookie of the Season”[2]
In 2007 his team won the ‘Constructor's Championship’[3] with Audi Sport Italia. The team renewed his contract for another two years. Goldstein has had team mates of the caliber of Gianni Morbidelli (ex Ferrari Formula One) and Dindo Capello (winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and American Le Mans).
In 2009 he became a Ferrari GT driver in Italy. Won 2 races and clicked 5 pole positions in the Italian championship and late in the year won the prestigious 6 Hours of Bogotá. Driving 2 separate cars he won the race in 2 different categories and finished 1st and 2nd in the overall ranking. He was a rookie in the 6 hour race and with such results, obtained the new national record in the country, displacing Juan Pablo Montoya.
In 2010 he was signed by the Republic of Panama. He raced in the European championship Trofeo Maserati and finished second overall (vice-champion).
In 2011 he competed in the European championship International GT Sprint on board a Ferrari 430 Scuderia with Spaniard teammate Antonio de la Reina. They won the championship with one race still on the calendar.
In 2012 he signed with Lamborghini to defend his title. It was a challenging season with a record number of pilots winning races (12 different winners in 14 races). Goldstein became European Champion again, this time by a margin of only 4 points.
Education and sponsorships
He has attained a Marketing Degree from American University in the United States and graduated with Magna Cum Laude Latin Honors for his GPA. He also completed an MBA program in Bocconi University in Milano and did a stage in Saatchi & Saatchi. He fluently speaks English, Spanish, Italian and French.
Goldstein was sponsored since he began racing by Café de Colombia and for a tenure of 8 years. His current sponsors are LAPIZTA (Japanese watches inspired by the passion for motorsport) and Momo (Italian racing gear). Other brands that have sponsored him include: Republic of Panama, Andrés Carne de Res, Mexichem and Ermenegildo Zegna. He is the ambassador for UNICEF in Europe. He has also been appointed Good Will Ambassador for the Barcelona based non-profit association called Arts Relief [1] and British based non for profit Fresh2O. He is currently launching his own foundation called Blink of an i whose aim is to help disabled kids.
