Jan Muhammed A Memon' (born on 1 May 1949) obtained primary and secondary schooling in Tando Muhammad Khan, followed by MBBS at then Liaquat Medical College (LMC), with distinction in Surgery. He then pursued FRCS at the Royal College of Surgeons UK, qualifying in first attempt. He returned to Pakistan in 1979 and joined LMC as Assistant Professor of Surgery. He was also awarded Honorary FCPS by the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan in 2003.

Memon was the founder Vice Chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS) Pakistan, the first ever public sector medical university in Pakistan. He is also the founding principal of Indus Medical College, a private medical college located in Tando Muhammad Khan. He is also overlooking several public and private social initiatives.

Memon was also involved with CPSP initially as Advisor Academics with additional charge of Registrar CPSP and then Secretary CPSP.

Achievements

Contributed significantly towards development of medical education and health systems in Pakistan. Numerous achievements over a career spanning more than three decades. During his tenure, LUMHS was ranked as the second best medical university in Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission Pakistan.
