Louie Palmer
Louie Palmer (born 1985) is an English drummer born in London.
Biography
Louie began playing the drums at the tender age of 5. His Father, a successful drummer in his own right, gave Louie the introduction into drumming and taught him throughout his early years. Louie was a member of many orchestras and bands as a child including the Merton Youth Concert Band and the Merton Youth Jazz Orchestra playing notable venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London and playing many concerts across Europe.
During his latter teenage years Louie had endorsements from notable drum companies such as Zildjian Cymbals and Premier drums and played at various drum clinic events accompanying UK drummers Steve White and Andy Gangadeen.
Louie's drumming continued to progress while studying in London with drum star Thomas Lang and in 2004 he received a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.
After returning to England Louie played with all of London's top musicians including Jason Rebello (Sting, Jeff Beck), Gary Husband (John Mclaughlin), Laurence Cottle and others.
Louie has studied extensively with Thomas Lang and Dave Weckl as well as with Peter Erskine, Will Kennedy, Virgil Donati and Mark Mondesir.
In 2013 Louie moved to the USA and has since played with legendary US Jazz guitarist Mike Stern, Tim Lefebvre, Ruslan Sirota and continued his work with US prog-rock outfit Barclay James Harvest ft. Les Holroyd.
