Nina Carberry
Nina Carberry (born 21 July 1984)[1] is an Irish female National Hunt jockey. She hails from a racing family and is the daughter of jockey Tommy Carberry.
Career
She got her first Cheltenham festival in 2005 on Dabiroun in the Fred Winter Juvenile hurdle.[2] In 2005/06 she became Irish Qualified Rider champion for the first time and repeated the feat the next season.[3] In 2011 she won the Irish Grand National on Organisedconfusion which was trained by her uncle Arthur Moore and became only the second woman rider to win the race.[4][5][6] She has also completed the Grand National course on three occasions. In the Cheltenham festival she has the most wins at the cross country handicap chase with 3 wins.
In 2013 she appeared on documentary The Irish Road To Cheltenham which was shown on RTE 1 television in Ireland.[7] She also became a racing assistant to Noel Meade that year.[8]
Personal Life
Nina married Ted Walsh Junior in February 2012. Walsh is the son of former jockey and Aintee National winning trainer Ted Walsh. Nina's brother in-law is top jockey Ruby Walsh.
