Gabriele Annette Beck-Sickinger is a German chemist and biologist. Since 1999, she holds the full professor chair of Biochemistry and Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Leipzig.

Email controversy

In March 2015, Beck-Sickinger was in the news[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8], for her reported email to an Indian internship applicant whom she had refused the position citing "India's rape problem". This evoked sharp outrage from the German ambassador to India, Michael Steiner[9] and was widely reported in social media in India[10].
