Lehal [ਲੇਹਲ ਜਾਂ ਲੇਲ੍ਹ] (also spelled as Leihl, Lail, Lehel, Lehl and Lahil) is a family name (Surname).
Lehal is the family name of the Jat people in India and Pakistan. [1] This surname is also used by people in various countries, mainly in United Kingdom, United States and Australia. [2] Various people in United States use it as Lail, which is Americanized form of German Lehl. Lehel or Lehl also found in Germany, Romania and Hungary. [3][4]
Notable people
- Dr. Gurpreet Singh Lehal is a professor at Punjabi University, Patiala, and is credited with designing Punjabi language software that enables users to utilise the language with computers. Lehal also developed software to convert English to both Punjabi and Urdu, as well as vice versa.[5][6]
