Edward Gallenstein is the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Chip Chats and President of the National Wood Carvers Association.
Personal life
Edward Gallenstein was born in Maysville, Kentucky on October 9, 1922. He was the son of Edward Gallenstein and Luella Greenlee. Ed served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Aleutian Islands. He belongs to the Cincinnati carvers guild. On April 8th 2015 he passed away. He was very much loved by lots of members of Cincinnati Carvers Guild. Everyone will very much miss him. :(
Career
Before the war, Gallenstein had worked for several different newspapers in Northern Kentucky. Having been a woodcarver since 1935, he first heard about the National Wood Carvers Association in 1962, and was elected president in 1971. Since then, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Chip Chats.
Ed Gallenstein explained basic wood carving to the Scouting Magazine in 2002. According to him, there are three distinct ways of wood carving: relief carving, three-dimensional carving, and chip carving.[1]
