Ion Buzea

Ion Buzea (born on August 14, 1934) is a Romanian tenor who enjoyed a succesful international career.

Born in Cluj, Romania, where he studied geology and mining and played in the National Romanian volleyball team while pursuying vocal training with Lya Popp. He made his stage debut in Cluj as Alfredo in La traviata. After winning first price in the George Enescu International Singing Competition he to the Romanian National Opera, Bucharest. After further studie with Luigi Ricci in Rome, he began his international career with notable appearances in Milan, Vienna, Salzburg, New York and most of the greatest opera stages around the world.

Ion Buzea also made numerous recordings, notably as the Duke in Rigoletto, opposite Nicolae Herlea and Magda Ianculescu, and television appearances.
