Son of Schmilsson is an album by Harry Nilsson. The album was a stark change of pace from his chart topping Nilsson Schmilsson. Nilsson was being pressured to produce a follow-up to Nilsson Schmilsson but instead he veered off the map with this eccentric, manic and impossible to pin down album. Son of Schmilsson is perhaps Nilsson's most daring release. Despite being scattered, some of his finest songs came from it.

The recording sessions for this album were extensively filmed on the request of Nilsson for a planned documentary called "Did somebody drop his mouse?". Although Nilsson recorded additional narration, work on subsequent albums saw the documentary committed to the vaults of RCA.
