Derek McAllister Jr. (born November 6, 1994), better known by his stage name Speaker Knockerz, is an American rapper from Colombia, South Carolina. Derek started receiving fame in his music though sharing them on YouTube. He has gained most of his popularity in his song Lonely. Derek's music was most famous on SoundCloud, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and iTunes.[1] Derek was missing on the third of March and on Thursday March 6, Speacker Knockerz was found dead in South Carolina at the age of 19.[2] According to a report by Toxicology, they have confirmed that Derek has died due to an overdose of codeine syrup which caused him to develop a heart attack.[3]
Early Life
Being born in New York City, he was named after his father Derek McAllister Sr. His father had attempted to become a producer himself and allowed his son to view and try out his music equipment which led him to have a music career early on. But in 2000, Derek McAllister Sr. was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a drug related crime. This made his mother, Mesha Wilson, move the family away from New York to South Carolina. There, he enjoyed hip-hop music, took on the name Speaker Knockerz, and started to create his own music with a computer. In 2010, Derek McAllister Sr., was released from prison and helped his son produce his first song, "Re-Up" which leads to his music career.[4][5][6]
