UAAP Season 78
UAAP Season 78 is the 2015–2016 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). It is scheduled to open on September 5, 2015, almost two months after the usual July opening of the league during previous seasons, due to the shift in the academic calendars of the member universities, including Ateneo, La Salle, UP and UST. It will be hosted by the University of the Philippines. [1]
The eight-member universities of the UAAP will be competing in fifteen sports to vie for the general championship.
Opening ceremony
The 78th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) is scheduled to open on September 5, 2015 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao Quezon City, with University of the Philippines (UP) as the host school.
Basketball double header games (UP vs. Adamson and UE vs. UST) will follow after the opening ceremonies.

Basketball
The UAAP Season 78 seniors division basketball tournament will begin on September 5, 2015. The tournament main venue for the Men's tournament will be the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City and the secondary venue will be the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. The tournament venue for the Women's tournament will be at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym. The tournament host is the University of the Philippines and the tournament commissioner is .
The UAAP Season 78 juniors division basketball tournament will start on November 14, 2014. The tournament venue will be at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym. FEU is the tournament host. The Ateneo Blue Eaglets are the defending champions.

Volleyball
The UAAP Season 78 high school volleyball tournament will start on August 22, 2015. The tournament venue will be at the Adamson University Gym in San Marcelino St., Ermita, Manila. Adamson is the tournament host. The number of participating schools in the boys' and girls' tournaments both increased to seven. Far Eastern University fielded boys' and girls' volleyball teams beginning season 77. Since there are now seven participating schools, the tournaments will have a Final Four format. The UAAP Board decided to move the high school volleyball tournaments from 2nd semester to 1st semester due to the basketball juniors tournament being moved from the 1st semester to 2nd semester.
The UAAP Season 78 seniors' division volleyball tournament will start on February 14, 2016 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. The tournament main venue is the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City while selected games will be played at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City, and the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. UP is the tournament host.

Beach volleyball
The UAAP Season 78 beach volleyball tournament will begin on October 3, 2015. The tournament venue will be at the Sands by the Bay SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila. Beach volleyball is a single round-robin elimination tournament. University of Santo Tomas is the tournament host.

Football
The UAAP Season 78 seniors division football tournament will start on February 14, 2016. The tournament venues will be at the Moro Lorenzo Football Field of Ateneo de Manila University in Katipunan Ave., Loyola Heights, Quezon City and at the FEU Diliman Football Field. Ateneo is the tournament host.
The number of participating schools increased to eight in the men's division. Adamson University fielded a men's team beginning season 77. Adamson made its return in men's football after more than a decade of absence.

The UAAP Season 78 cheerdance competition will be held on December 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. Cheerdance competition is an exhibition event. Points for the overall championship are not awarded to the participating schools.

The overall champion is determined by a point system. The system gives 15 points to the champion team of a UAAP event, 12 to the runner-up, and 10 to the third placer. The following points: 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 are given to the rest of the participating teams according to their order of finish.
