Name origins

While I've excised one name origin, I'm of the mind that another might be appropriate: Boone's surname "Carlyle" is a reference to Thomas Carlyle, the Victorian-era essayist and historian, who believed in following leaders/heroes, as expressed in his work, "On Heroes and Hero Worship" (1841). This ties in to Boone's connection to John Locke, who had been an earlier era essayist on political philosophy. I believe this has been mentioned elsewhere; can anyone find a good reference?
