Clepsydra is an Italian music band based in Giulianova and formed in 2002.They consisting of Fabio Di Gialluca (Guitar, Vocals) and Danilo Ricci (Drums). Clepsydra’s music embraces psychedelic rock, space rock and progressive rock .

History

[edit]

Although at the beginning they were mainly influenced by progressive rock, their genre is predominantly psychedelic rock. However ,the band is based on absolute freedom of style; featuring philosophical and introspective lyrics, improvisations and musical extensions. In the live performances the experimental interest becomes the reinterpretation of their songs in different ways from time to time, with a strong emphasis on jamming.

After spending the early years in the local live clubs circuit ,they recorded two self-produced EP in 2005 and in 2006, which yield their first recording contract.

Second era of Stonehenge is the debut album by Clepsydra, it was released on March , 2007 by M.P. Records (located at Padova) . The album features Phil De Rubeis (bass), Fabio Liberatori (instrumentalist) winning artist in 1982 of the David di Donatello Awards for Best Score (Musician) and Nastro D’Argento Awards for Best Score ( Soundtrack). During the tour that followed the album, they also began playing live new material for a future concept album , which added to the recording studio session parts of the synthesizer, violin, trumpet & percussion, expanding the classic power trio.

In other sunset is the second album by Clepsydra, released on March, 2009 coinciding with the start of the tour that took them playing gigs around Italy. Guest musicians on this album include: Luca Trifoni (electric bass) , Piero Montebello (violin) , Maurizio Alfonsi (synthesizer) and Tony Lisciani (trumpet).

Marmalade Sky is the third album by Clepsydra , released on April , 2011 by Go Down Records with co-producer Amaury Cambuzat Ulan Bator . He is the special guest who also participates as a session man and adding the backing vocals. Phil De Rubeis is back as bass player in the recording session but he will be replaced on tour by Mattia Di Bernardo who will be a permanent member .

Tropicarium is the fourth and latest album by Clepsydra, released on May , 2015 by Go Down Records. This album includes a new permanent member :Sandro Abbondanza on organ and Fender Rhodes.

The work has been developed along with the artist Andrea Di Felice and the Dj Andreas Mathis, both authors also as lyricists. It all begins with basic embryonic concepts such as a pencil sketch, a trip, a sound, a scent . This created a beehive, where everyone has grown its "species" making the thirteen tracks on the album also visible through the canvases made by Di Felice. The entire balance of "Tropicarium" "is held firmly by the knowledge that everything is cyclical and that all that is lost , you will find it surely, somewhere else.
