I am a professor of cultural anthropology teaching at SUNY New Paltz. I also teach in the Women's Studies Program at New Paltz.

I am a priest of Yemaya in the Lukumi religious tradition, and have written an FAQ on Lukumi practice and traditions which has been well circulated on the internet among practitioner groups. http://www.wemba-music.org/orisha_faq.htm

Am a former member of the Young Lords Party and the Black Panther Party.

I was a founder and first program director of WPFW-FM Pacifica Washington, and a former Executive Director of the Black Filmmaker Foundation.
