George D. Hindori (born August 13, 1933) was a Surinamese politician [1], widely considered the driving force behind the independence of Suriname ( formerly dutch-guyana) from the netherlands <ref>[1]

Hindori was a prominent member of the Vooruitstrevende Hervormings Partij led by Jagernath Lachmon and the only member of the VHP to vote for the independence of Suriname from the Netherlands. His vote was the deciding vote that resolved the months long impasse 19-19 vote of opposition and coalition after one of the 39 members of the parliament fled the country.

In 1978 he was decorated as 'officier in de ere orde van de gele ster'
