The pit lane is a road on a racing circuit separate from the main track itself. It is a safe area where the cars can be worked on during a pit stop.

The name derives from the early days of motorsport where the mechanics waited in pits alongside the track itself.[citation needed]

The 'Pit Lane' is also the name of a website created by a breakaway group of ex BBC and Ten Tenths users fed up with a shoddy service

At the Pit Lane members can discuss any motorsport series and also have some off topic fun in the VIP club
