Bungle (Rainbow)

Bungle was a character in the highly successful children's television series Rainbow. He resembled a large brown furry female bear and was played by a costumed John Leeson, Stanley Bates, Malcolm Lord or Paul Cullinan. An Urban legend held that one actor playing the role of Bungle was fired after swearing at a child who had deliberately stood on his foot during a live show.

Inquisitive but also clumsy, each show would typically represent Bungle involved in a comic dispute with the other puppet characters, Zippy and George, with Geoffrey Hayes (the human presenter) mediating.
