Overall, eleven players have represented the Omani national cricket team in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket.[1] Oman were first granted T20I status in July 2015, after making the top six teams at the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier.[2] The team's debut in the format came in its last match of the tournament, the fifth-place play-off against Afghanistan.[3] Oman lost the match, played at Castle Avenue, Dublin, by five wickets,[4] and has not yet made any further appearances. However, the team is scheduled to play T20I series against Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates in November 2015.[5] Oman will maintain its T20I status until at least 2019,[a] and during that time will participate in at least two other tournaments with T20I status (the 2016 Asia Cup Qualifier and the 2016 World Twenty20).[6]

Notes

  1. ^ Assuming the current format of the World Twenty20 is maintained, a global qualifier for the 2020 ICC World Twenty20 will be held in 2019, with the top six teams receiving T20I status if they do not already hold it. Oman could also maintain its T20I status by placing highly at the 2018 World Cup Qualifier, thus gaining One Day International (ODI) status.
