Quinn Norton
Quinn Norton is a San Francisco-based journalist, photographer and blogger covering hacker culture, intellectual property and copyright issues, and the cool corners of the Internet. Her work has appeared in Wired News, Guardian UK, and O'Reilly Media publications such as Make Magazine. Quinn has also been a long-time fixture at O'Reilly's Foo Camp.
Quinn also invented the conceptual thought work known as Quinn's Symphonic Conundrum, in which she proposed the idea of a computer program that would create all possible melodies into a single orchestral score which could then be copyrighted. Any music made after her symphony was published would be a violation of copyright, unless the piece was used using a Creative Commons such as the non-commercial license, which would mean people could make, but never be able to sell music again.
She also serves as the Dungeon Master for staff at the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
