Template:Koreanruler Sukjong of Joseon ruled Korea from 1674 to 1720, the nineteenth ruler of the Joseon Dynasty. He succeeded Hyeonjong and was succeeded by Gyeongjong.

In 1712, Sukjong's government worked with the Qing Dynasty in China to define the national borders between the two countries at the Yalu and Tomun Rivers.

According to Korean Buddhist legend, Sukjong was struck by a dream one night, and awoke with the memory so vivid in his mind that he ordered someone to investigate one of his castle's gates. There he found a Buddhist priest, whom he asked to pray for his queen, Jang Huibin (actually a concubine) so that she would have a son. The next year the queen bore him a prince and later ruler of Joseon, Yeongjo.
