Vijai Sardesai (born 4 June 1970) is a Politician from Goa. He is the MLA from Fatorda constituency from the South Goa District . Vijay contested the Goa assembly elections in 2012 as an independent candidate from Fatorda Constituency and won by a majority of votes.[1]

Early Life

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina , Vijai has an impeccable family background his father Dr.Jaiwantrao , a Scientist / Entomologist has served with the United Nations . His wife Usha who is an artist has natural love for social work and is active along with Vijay in running the charitable trust WE FOUND FATORDA .[2] His brother in law Dr. Subodh Kerkar is a noted artist and sculptor[3]. Vijay come from a Konkani family and has played a remarkable role in supporting Konkani when Konkani was facing agitations.[4]

Political Life

Vijay has history in Youth Politics in Goa , He was the chairman at the Goa University Students Council and President of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress , and contest Independent in 2012 after being denied Congress Ticket. Vijay intends to create a political alternative to national parties who have hand ruled the state of whose Delhi High Command's visible disconnect with the grow level has made Goa suffer.[5] Vijay us a strong protagonist of preserving and promoting Goa's unique identity and stands for a progressive, liberal, tolerant Goa which aims at taking its youth and people forward whilst simultaneously having sustainable development and growth strong supports a new political movement Goa Forward that has been recently established [6]
