Dharamshala is the place of life and delight . It is the main hill station in the kangra valley lying between the SHIVALIK hills and the foothills of DHAULADHARS.IT was formerly known as BHAGSU.In common hindi usage the word Dharamshala refers to a shelter or rest house for spiritual piligrims

ESTABLISHMENT OF TIBETAN EXILE COMMUNITY

Tibetan settlement of Dharamshala began in 1959,when his holiness the dalai lama had to flee tibet and the PM of INDIA allowed him and his followers to settle in MCLEOGANJ. Dharamshala had been connected with Hinduism and Buddhism for a long time. Mcleoganj is sometime known as little LHASA ,after the TIBETAN capital city or DHASA .

Dharamshala has an average elevation of 1457m covering an area of almost 8.51km2 . The city is divided into two sections.

summer start in early april peaks in early june and last till mid june.From july to september is the monsoon season when upto 3000mm of rainfall can be experienced .winter start in december .snow and sleets are common during the winter in upper Dharamshala .The best time to visit Dharamshala are the autmn and spring months .

  • kaveri lake(near kaveri village )is alsi a famous trekking destination for travellers .
  • Dharamshala Bleni pass Dunali.this one is much easier and taken around 4 to 5 days to complete.

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET STADIUM (HPCA)

DICS is a cricket stadium for international reputation which servers as home ground to the Himachal pradesh state CRICKET TEAM and for IPL TEAM .it is most attractive stadium in INDIA .The first oneday international held at the ground was played betweem INDIA and ENGLAND on sunday 27 jan 2013. IN may 2011 a match between kings 11 punjab and chennai superkings was held here in which his holiness the DALAI LAMA graced the match of IPL at HPCA in Dharamshala.
