Karnplay, sometimes spelled Kahnple, is the 4th largest city in Nimba County with the population of 10,241. It presently has 10 districts, referred to as zones: Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5b, 6, 6b, 7, and 8.

Karnplay City lies just 12 miles from the Ivorian border, and has six entry points of roads from: Peelar, Sanniquellie, Sarkolay, Loguatuo, Gienplay, and Lolay. Karnplay is one of the bread baskets of Nimba County.

Karnplay also boasts of fielding two high schools (Karn High and Karnplay Inland Academy) with the best records in the West African Examination Council (WAEC), in Nimba County, since 2009. Karnplay also has Karn High School, in terms of student population and building infrastructures, the second largest and the largest, respectively, in Nimba County presently.

The city also has 3 pre-primaries, 1 vocational (not yet open), 7 elementary schools, 7 junior high schools, 1 semi high school, and 2 senior high schools.
