Chance officially joined CNN in 2001, after correspondent Steve Harrigan famously left CNN for Fox News while on assignment in Northern Afghanistan. He replaced Harrigan in Northern Afghanistan, and the rest, as they say, is history. He was also a journalist for The Independent in the 1990s.
