Etymology of disinformation

[edit]

This may be of interest to you, given your note on the Talk page of the disinformation article. I recently found some early uses of the word disinformation in American newspapers, which I have also shared on the same Talk page. These instances predate the publication of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia. I wonder if you have any additional information sources re: the etymology of the word and its early use?
