Books written by A.T. Markose

A.T. Markose is one major exponent of law in the Indian law history.

His literary works “Judicial Control of Administrative Action in India” and “Public law: some aspects” were his master works as a contribution to law. After the independence of India the administrative laws in India were based on the texts of England. The book “Judicial Control of Administrative Action India” was a pioneer in the Indian law history to deal with the administrative laws in India. This was mentioned by M.C.Setalvad( Attorney General of India,1956, and the chairman  First Law Commission of Free India) in the foreword given in the book[1].

[2]Prof. A T Markose who has taught constitutional law in the university of Kerala and the Queen’s University of Belfast, is founder Research Director of the Indian Law Institute. He has been an Advocate of Administrative Law before the High Courts and the Supreme Court. He is eminent in this special branch of law and his book; “Judicial Control of Administrative Action in India” has already made its mark in the field. His lectures in this Volume are illuminating and depict the law of administrative action as a sound system, guided and controlled as it is by well-recognised principles. I trust that a study of this publication would be a rewarding introduction to the subject.[Foreword given to the Public law- Some Aspects by T.K. TUKOL the Vice- chancellor of Bangalore University May 28,1971]

A.T Markose has been an Advocate of Administrative Law before the High Courts and the Supreme Court. Later he turned his attention to the professional legal education in India. A. T. Markose was a celebrity in the field of law at his golden age but in a way or so he was forgotten from the history. The appreciation and recognition given to such eminent person was very less as many eminent personality in the Kerala history.

Even Though some of the eminent personalities remembers him and his cheerful presence. Notable one among them is N.R. Madhava Menon who mentioned him in his autobiography “ The Story of a Law Teacher:Turning Point”.
