A quilt is one type of blanket.

A blanket is a (usually square- or rectangular-shaped) piece of cloth, generally intended to keep people warm, especially while they sleep. It can be distinguished from sheets by its thickness and its intention; the thickest sheet is still thinner than the lightest blanket, because blankets intend to warm people, while sheets are for hygiene and aesthetics. Blankets are subdivided into many types, including quilts, comforters, and others, and are filled with many types of materials, such as feathers or cotton.
