The Republic of East Florida, also known as the Republic of Florida, was a free and independent republic covering the majority of the Floridian peninsula from 1812 to 1816.[1] After 1816, the executive branch of the republic continued the revolution during the First Seminole War (1817-1819).

John Houstoun McIntosh was the republic's only president. He was elected in 1812, after the liberation of Amelia Island, during the Patriot War (1812-1813). His leadership was supported by the James Madison administration.[2]
