David M. Solomon (born c. 1962) is an American businessman. He serves as the president and co-chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs.
Early life
David M. Solomon was born circa 1962.[1] He graduated from Hamilton College, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science.[2]
Career
Solomon worked for Irving Trust, Drexel Burnham and Bear Stearns.[2] In 1999, he became a partner at Goldman Sachs.[2] He was the co-head of investment banking from 2006 to 2016.[2][1] He was appointed as president and co-chief operating officer in December 2016 when Gary Cohn resigned from Goldman to become the Chief Economic Advisor to Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States. [1][3] [4] He serves on its management committee.[2]
Solomon serves on the board of trustees of his alma mater, Hamilton College.[5] He also serves on the board of directors of the Robin Hood Foundation.[6]
Personal life
With his wife Mary, he resided in the The San Remo on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City from 2002 onwards.[7] They listed the apartment for $24 million in May 2016.[7] He works as a D.J. under the stagename D.J. D-Sol[8]
