Hendon Town Hall

Hendon Town Hall in 2011

Hendon Town Hall was designed by T.H. Watson prior to it being built in 1901, with it later being extended at the back in 1929. Various events took place by members of the British Parliament including Margaret Thatcher making her first appearance and speech as Prime Minster in 1979. Itzhak Ofer unveiled the Family of Man sculpture in 1981 at the Hendon Town Hall. [1]

The design is red brick and stone pre-Renaissance manner with symmetrical ground storey, as well as 3 bays either side of porte cochere with semi-circular rusticated heads and flanking attached Doric columns.[2]

Hendon Town Hall has now become a part of Middlesex University and houses the School of Health and Education as well as School of Science and Technology.[3]
