As of January 1, 2007 Ikast-Brande municipality will, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), come into existence as a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Denmark. It will consist of the (what are currently existing, but on January 1 2007) former municipalities of Brande, Ikast , and Nørre-Snede. This will create a municipality with an area of 768 km² and a total population of 39,528 (2006). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").
