Saxena (also spelled Sakasena, Saksena or Shakasena) is an Indian surname and clan of the Kayastha community.

See Saxena. Saxenas are Hindus from the Kayastha community. Saxena is known as the "golden caste" in Hindus. People from Saxena caste are top bureaucrats, government officials and administrators of the country. They were rulers of the Pala Empire, one of the major early medieval Indian kingdoms that originated in Bengal.
