Sindhind is the Arabisation of Sanskrit Siddhanta, which in turn means principle, theorem or theory. An Arabic text of this name, now lost, is believed to have been a translation of Brahmasphutasiddhanta (7th century AD), which had dedicated chapters on algebra and algorithmics.
