Truebil.com, based in Mumbai, is a marketplace for trading used cars. Launched on 13th March 2015, Truebil.com is a one stop shop for trading pre-owned cars in major Indian cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi[1]

History

Truebil.com is envisioned as an online portal to facilitate a hassle-free process of buying and selling used cars. Seven ex-IITians namely Suraj Kalwani (CEO), Ravi Chirania, Shubh Bansal, Rakesh Raman, Ritesh Pandey, Shanu Vivek and Himanshu Singhal, from diverse professional backgrounds co-founded Truebil in 2015[1]

Finance

Truebil attracted investment from multiple sources. Kae Capital and angel investor Anupam Mittal invested a sum of $500,000; Kalaari Capital, Inventus Capital and Tekton Ventures pumped $5.15 million as Series-A funding. It gathered an additional $3 million from Shunwei in Follow-on Series A funding[2][3]

Services

Truebill offers features like valuation, quick sell guarantee, vehicle buying consulting, smooth paper transfer, loan assistance and insurance, among others.[4] It is ideally a full stack online to offline transactional platform with two major offerings

  • Curated Marketplace (for value-seeking consumers) – Acts as a curated marketplace for customers who can choose from a wide range of high quality refurbished used cars at affordable rates.[5]
  • Truebil Direct (for convenience-seeking consumers) – Launched in November 2016, this model enables customers to buy refurbished cars directly from offline dark stores of Truebil located in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Truebil speeds up the purchase process by handling all paperwork related to ownership transfer, loan and insurance[6]
