An Arabic first name. The name Ramey (RAH-MEE) is an Arabic name derived from the popular name "Rami" which means "archer" or "one who throws". The name can also be found in Hebrew with the meaning of "tall". Ramey is an alternative spelling to "Rami" or "Ramy", especially found in the levant of Arabia.

A French surname. Popular in the United States. Yet the French variant is pronounced (RA-MAY) whereas the American variant is pronounced differently (RAY-ME). The Earliest American genealogy of the name recorded is Pierre Ramey found in the year 1754 in the state of Pennsylvania.
