Annie Murphy (born December 19, 1986) is a Canadian actress, best known for her role as Alexis Rose in the award-winning TV series Schitt's Creek (2015–present).[1][2][3][4]
Career
Murphy has starred in films, television series and web series, including Blue Mountain State (2010), Rookie Blue (2012) and The Plateaus (2015).
She guest co-hosted the first episode of 2017 for This Hour Has 22 Minutes.[5]
Schitt's Creek
As of 2015, she stars as one of the leads in the CBC sitcom Schitt's Creek, alongside Eugene and Dan Levy and Catherine O'Hara.[3] Murphy joked on Twitter after receiving the part that her eyebrows which are similar in shape and size to the Levys' eyebrows, was one of the reasons she scored the role.[6] The series has won multiple awards since it premiered and season two premiered in 2016. In early 2016, the series was renewed for a third season by CBC, which began airing in January 2017.[7]
Personal life
Murphy is married to Hollerado singer Menno Versteeg.[6]
Awards and nominations
In 2016, for her work on Schitt's Creek, Murphy was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Comedic Role.
