The Maritime provinces were divided in the American Revolution'. New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island were heavily loyalist, while Nova Scotia was conflicted, and almost joined the revolution.[1]

It is estimated that at the time of the American Revolution, almost three quarters of Nova Scotia residents were from New England.
