For the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, I would include more resources in this article that would further help the comprehension of this act. For example, I would add this website https://www.dol.gov/whd/fmla/ in order to have a link to get all the forms needed for this act. A big reason I would add this website is because it is a government website that would provide a reliable resource. I would also add any cases in which people did not receive this act when he/she could have. I like that you want to use a "better" sources; however, what specifically are you going to add that will make it easier to comprehend FMLA 1993? Why would this particular source be helpful for this? What other sources could you use? -Prof H

Article Evaluation

Notes on observations and learning: - Look at quality and ratings. - Must have an easy to understand lead section. - Clear structure. - Reliable sources. - Must have a balance of subjects and aspects. - No bias.

In “The US Census Bureau Article”, all of the components were relevant to the article. With that being said, everything flowed very neatly and was easy to comprehend the information written in this article. Although politics were mentioned in the article, there were no bias geared towards a particular side. All the information given was very factual and was not opinionated at all. Also, all the listed sources were reliable and most of the links given worked – except a couple of sources. As I evaluated these sources, it noticed that they may have not been the most reliable due to the grammar errors throughout the source. Other that those few errors, this article has strong sources to back up the information provided in this article. When I went through the talk page of this article some of the questions that were asked were about the surveys in this article. Most of these questions asked for clarification of information given. As I went through the many sources “The US Census Bureau Article” provided, I stumbled upon an article that showed how the different races were classified. This article was “Infographic: Government Collection of Race and Ethnicity Data” which was very relevant to “The US Census Bureau Article”. The reason they correlate with each other is because in the sourced article, it mentions how the different races and ethnicities were/are classified according to the decennial census from 1790 to 2010. Generally, nice work with the evaluation - Prof Hammad

Assignment 3 Part 4

Along with the 30 day notice, there are also other requirements to be made when seeking the FMLA rights. If an employee wants to leave the first time using ones FMLA rights, the act must claim the Family and Medical Leave Act. In the case that an employee were to leave again under the FMLA act, the same process must proceed. [1]

With the release of employees, there is a certification as well. The absence of an employee due to the conditions he or she may have may require a certification as proof of the verification of absence.[2] In order to certify the leave of an employee, the employer may ask for other requirements. An example of these requirements are requiring multiple medical opinions. All of these prerequisites are at the employer's expense. There are also certain rules that may apply to those who work at local education agencies. On the right track, what other sources can you include here? Also, think about this topic from the perspective of demography - how can you add more details from the perspective of our course? - Prof H

1. I like how gave more in depth details about the requirements that are needed in order for one to use the FMLA rights.

2. A few things to change/add in this article would be to elaborate more in the first paragraph. It would help make a clearer picture of what you are trying to say. Maybe add more information about the FMLA and how it came to be. You could describe how it varies from person to person. You could also maybe add another separate paragraph describing a situation in which people weren't able to receive this act. Give detail on why they didn't and what the outcomes were of the situation.

3. A way to improve this article is maybe adding a government source to make your section more reliable. Also, don't forget to give it your article section a title!

4. I really like what you are talking about in your article, I believe that all you need is more information to better inform everyone of what you are talking about and trying to inform others on! Keep up the good work!!

Peer Review

I think you have a great starting point but could elaborate more on the subject matter. You could add more to the specific topic you started or you can add more to underdeveloped regions of the article like background, ceremony, and enforcement. It may seem hard to find things to add so try finding more sources to translate information from, currently I only see one source and I'm sure theres more on the topic considering it's a government policy. Maybe mention some of the things we mentioned a couple class periods ago? Or maybe compare the U.S. Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 to similar policies around the world? So far, so good though! Keep it up.

Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you?

Yes, everything mentioned in the article relates to the U.S. Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.

Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?

All Neutral.

Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?

The background, ceremony, and enforcement sections of the article seem to be underrepresented along with some of the things you wrote. It's a good start though.

Check the citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?

Yes, the link works. I would advise you to try to find more links though!

Good work and good luck! -Mariam

Thank you! I will fix the fluency of the section added to better portray what I am trying to say. The source I used was a government source, but I will look for another one in order to make this section more credible. - Ariana — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArianaDelgadillo22 (talkcontribs) 22:58, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
