- No credit for M.I.A. despite her filming
- Surprised critics that the film lacked focus on her musical style or production, not typical for a music documentary
- MIA thoughts on the documentary
Initially feeling exposed (Billboard), uncomfortable with Loveridge's editing decisions (The Star), and thought that Loveridge was going to cut together a tour documentary (MIA). Loveridge defends himself and says he needed to keep distance from himself and MIA, as it wouldn't have been appropriate for him as a biographical documentary filmmaker, to allow the subject 'into the edit suites' (The Star)
