I highly doubt that the word "ükskül" would mean a place to cross a river. I do not speak Livonian but üks means always number one in Finnish, Estonian and other Finno-Ugrian languages related to Livonian. And so does the word kül means a village. Could someone check this Sutrop source, which claims that the word comes from "the ford or islet(s)". That sounds really weird. Maybe a mistake?
