Susan Blight

Susan Blight is an Anishinaabe visual artist, filmmaker, and arts educator from Couchiching First Nation.[1][2]

Education

She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Windsor in Integrated Media, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film studies from the University of Manitoba. She is currently a PhD student in Social Justice Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.[3]

Professional Activities

Her interdisciplinary work focuses on how space interacts with personal and cultural identities, by reconfiguring public spaces through art.[1] [2][4] She is co-creator of Ogimaa Mikana, an artist collective focused on reclaiming Indigenous place names for Toronto's streets.[5] Blight is also the host of the Indigenous Waves radio show.

She currently works as Indigenous Student Life Coordinator at the University of Toronto.
